As one of the newest golfing societies, HSDG was formed in 2008 and is committed to maintaining the history and tradition of the game. The Honorable Society of Denver Golfers gather annually at a history golf course and play with clubs made pre-1975.

The first annual outing is scheduled 23 August 2008 at a historic Denver public course. The game will be followed with a traditional garden party at the lawn bowling facilities in Washington Park. English Garden Party attire is recommended.

For more information regarding joining the Honorable Society of Denver Golfers please email Michael McFadden at mike@mcfaddenplace.com or Paul Zeckser at pzeckser@compete.com

What is this?
A golf tournament where everyone plays with clubs made pre-1975. You have to find them (grandparents, craigslist, ebay, pawn shops, etc). I found mine at a yard sale in Bonnie Brae. My dad grabbed his dads set — Northwestern’s Bruce Crampton irons built in the 1940s.
When and Where is it?
The Historic Willis Case is excited to host our group.
It is Sat Aug 23rd at 10am.
Who Many?
We have 28 spots available now and I can get up to 56 if we have RSVPs and money in by Aug 7
What is this group?
We have created the “Honorable Society of Denver Golfers” as our name. It doesn’t cost anything to join, just your participation in the fixture/tournament.
Why a golfing society?
The goal is we create a society of golfers committed to playing with old sticks and eventually create events with other golf clubs where they play us and everyone plays with clubs pre-1975.
What’s the format? What if I’m a huge hacker?
Everyone is invited. The exact format is still TBD. It will be some sort of best ball — I think a 4 man best ball with handicaps.
All levels are invited. I just need a handicap or average score. Everyone will be put in a tier and then each team will have one from each.
Any rules?
Yes, all clubs must be made pre-1975. No carts** (this has been approved by Willis Case).
** people over the age of 70 can use a cart if they have a doctors note :-)
Who’s invited?
Friends of friends are invited. Just send them to our website on http://mcfaddenplace.com/denver-golfers/ and get them to RSVP. I will let you know when we are close to the cap.
What’s this Garden Party?
After golf there is a garden party for all players. Their spouses, friends, family are invited to join as well. The garden party will be held on the lawn bowling facilities at Washington Park. More information can be found here:
It is $85 for golf, prizes and the garden party
For those not attending golf, the garden party is $20. That includes lawn bowling, lessons and Pimms and Lemonade (a great english garden party drink).
